Jesus uses this situation to challenge ordinary ideas of fairness and reward. The landowner has not cheated those hired first. His generosity towards those hired later, however, goes beyond what they have earned. The complaint of…
the first workers reveals their difficulty in accepting generosity of the landowner. The landowner reflects God, whose mercy and generosity cannot be measured by human standards of merit. God's grace is not a reward that we can claim as an…

Parish notice The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill
The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill was defeated at its Second Reading in the House of Commons on 11 September, with MPs voting 286 against and 270 in favour. The Bill would have provided a legal framework for eligible terminally ill adults in England and Wales to request assistance to end their own lives, subject to proposed safeguards. The vote means the legislation will not proceed through Parliament in its current form. Archbishop John Sherrington welcomed the result and thanked MPs and those who had engaged in the debate, while reiterating the Catholic Church's commitment to protecting human dignity and strengthening compassionate care for people approaching the end of life.
Parish notice Home Mission Sunday
This Sunday, 20 September, the Church in England and Wales celebrates Home Mission Sunday, an opportunity to reflect on our call to share the joy of the Gospel with those around us. Home Mission Sunday reminds us that mission begins close to home: in our families, workplaces, schools and neighbourhoods, as well as in our churches. It is an invitation to consider how our parishes can welcome people who may be searching for meaning, returning to faith, or encountering the Church for the first time and let us pray for the mission of the Church.
