Confirmation

Young people (Year 9 and above)

Confirmation preparation at St Patrick's runs for the full school year, with fortnightly Sunday evening sessions from September to Pentecost. The year is built around the gifts of the Holy Spirit and what it means to live as a young adult in the Church.

Required documents

• Baptism certificate
• First Holy Communion certificate (if applicable)
• Completed registration form

Choosing a sponsor

Each candidate chooses a Confirmation sponsor — a practising Catholic who has themselves been confirmed and who is willing to support the candidate in their journey of faith. A godparent may serve as sponsor; many candidates choose a family friend or relative.

Adults

Adults seeking Confirmation — whether baptised Catholics who have not yet been confirmed, or adults preparing for reception into the Church — are prepared through the RCIA programme, and are usually confirmed at the Easter Vigil.

Enrolment Mass

The Enrolment Mass is celebrated each June. Candidates are formally presented to the parish, sign the Book of the Elect, and are prayed for by the community throughout their preparation.
